Clarice Assad - A Story of Mermaids Triple Concerto

the concerto

In celebration of its 10th anniversary as an ensemble, Delphi commissioned a triple concerto from acclaimed composer Clarice Assad—a 21st century response to Beethoven’s famously joyous work.

Titled A Story of Mermaids, the thrilling new work explores mermaid mythology across cultures while taking inspiration from a diverse array of influences including Brazilian rhythms, French impressionism, and Stravinsky.

The world premiere took place at St. Francis Episcopal Church in San José, California, with the San José Chamber Orchestra conducted by Barbara Day Turner on March 20, 2022. The piece is now available for regional premieres by Delphi Trio.
